Fall 2021 guide to Hawaii farms with pumpkin patches

You know its the Fall season in Hawaii when the temperature drops to a freezing 75 degrees Fahrenheit, the North Shore swells start picking up, and ʻulu (breadfruit) trees are drooping from the weight of their mature fruits. Its also a time when every mother, or sunflower lover is wondering where to find information on farms open this year for fall activities. No worry beef curry, we got you covered:

1. Hawaii Island: Paʻani Ranch

Just 20 mins outside of Hilo Town in the Mountain View area, Paʻani Ranch is a fun filled 225 acre working ranch that provides horseback, ATV and keiki (children) adventures along with breathtaking views. Paʻani is the Hawaiian word for ‘play’ and there is plenty of horsing around to be had here. For the first time ever, they have paired up with Big Island Pulse and Kamaʻāina Directory to bring to the Big Island community: Holoholoween. This event will offer: a Haunted Drive-Through Tent, Pumpkin Patch, Concessions at the Bat Booth, Farm Animal Experience, Goodie bags in exchange for donated canned foods, and Selfie Photo Stations. It will run on the weekends starting on October 22nd through the 31st.

2. Oahu: Mari’s Garden

Located in Wahiawa, the flagship center for this family-owned and operated business offers gardens, nursery, organic produce, a market and farm-to-table café items. They also have a mini-pumpkin patch available during their store hours Monday through Saturday for the month of October until supplies last. Free Sunflower Grow Kits are provided with the purchase of every pumpkin.

3. Oahu: Aloun Farms

This vast farm covers 3,000 acres in south central Oahu plains, accessible off Farrington Highway in Kapolei. They grow high quality produce for the local community and employ up to 180 workers. They grow a variety of produce including Chinese Cabbage, Green Beans, Pumpkins, Taro, Cabbage, Zucchini, Ewa Sweet Onion, and Ewa Sweet Corn that can be found at many local wholesale and retail outlets. Their drive-through pumpkin patch is open on the weekends until October 30th. The sunflower field is not included with the pumpkin patch and must be booked separately. 

4. Oahu: Waimanalo Country Farms

Situated in the heart of Waimanalo, this farm is a total of 52 acres of land that was passed down through 6 generations. They farmed everything from melons, to broccoli, sweet potatoes, corn, and of course, pumpkins. Their Fall Harvest Festival offers a drive-through pumpkin patch and sunflower fields, drive-through food options and a FarmStand of activities. They are open Tuesdays to Sundays through November 21st and reservations are required.

5. Maui: Kula Country Farms 

This fourth generation farm in Upcountry, Maui grows many types of fruits and vegetables available daily at local stores and at their very own farm stand, which also showcases a variety of local produce from Maui's own farmers. They even offer strawberry picking in the spring. Their popular pumpkin patch is open everyday for the month of October and those with reservations will be allowed in before those who are walk-ins.
